Oregon Life Safety Team (OLST) – July 17, 2008 Meeting Notes

The Oregon Fire Service Coalition updated the team on the Toylike Lighter Legislation and asked that we encourage our Agencies to support the pending legislation Prohibiting the Sale and Distribution of Novelty (Toylike) Lighters. Support forms are available on the OSFM website. Form

The OSFM updated the team on the Remembering When Senior Program. Upcoming workshops are July 22 (Roseburg), July 29 (Salem) and August 12 (Bend). If you are interested in attending a workshop, please contact OSFM staff member Stephanie Stafford, Community Education Program Coordinator, at (503) 373-1540 x 245.

The team was able to see a working copy of the pending: ProSchools Online Realtor Smoke Alarm Curriculum. It is still in beta form but is close to completion. Once complete Realtors will be able to complete the class online and receive CEU credits through ProSchools.

The team worked on a checklist for Fire Prevention Week (October 5-11, 2008). Once completed OSFM hopes to have them available for all departments to use.

The team talked about the need for more OLST members. The team needs to recruit new members geographically throughout Oregon. Have interested persons contact OSFM staff member Stephanie Stafford, Community Education Program Coordinator, at (503) 373-1540 x 245.
