OFSOA 2007 Spring Workshop ~ April 19th & 20th
As you know, education and networking are the goals of OFSOA. We are very excited about this year’s workshop and its educational opportunities.
Ken McGinnis, Division Chief at Winston-Dillard, will enlighten us on 'Crisis Intervention in the Workplace', and LesaBeth Titus, R.N. will inform us of 'Women’s Health Issues' and remind us to take better care of ourselves.
Jean Busby, of Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue CERT will be presenting FEMA’s ‘Are You Ready?’ In the event of a disaster, emergency services will be unable to meet everyone’s needs immediately and this class will teach you how to prepare you and your family to shelter at home in the event of various disasters. Ms. Busby will also give you the tools so that you can take this information back to your fire district and set up a plan to educate the citizens of your community.
We are also looking forward to a 'Jaws demonstration and a Confined Space Rescue demonstration'. I don’t know about you, but I like the idea of seeing the jaws at work in a controlled environment rather than the real thing.
And let’s not forget our trip to the Wildlife Safari. Not only will it be fun, but it will also allow for time to get to know Office Administrators from other fire districts. Networking among the animals!
There will be a bus available to transport attendees from the hotel to Winston-Dillard Fire District, to Roseburg Forest Products and to the Wildlife Safari Tour, and back to the hotel.
